New! Try our Frontier Blend Bone Broth Frontier Blend Broth

In Praise of the Local Diner

Posted by Didi Gorman on

Do you have a favorite diner or restaurant?

If so, what makes them a favorite?

My two favorite diners are on the main street of our teensy town, both family-owned and specialize in ethnic cuisines (Indian and Greek).

What I like best about them is that the food is absolutely delicious! Cooked on the spot, it’s vibrant with flavors and liveliness. It has no time to get old in the kitchen, they cook afresh all the time.

I had the utmost pleasure of dining in both places, and I’m definitely coming back for more.

Judging by how busy they are (which is a great sign), I’m not the only one thinking this way, so reserving a table is a good idea.

Prices are very reasonable in both places, and both are within walking distance. Lucky! No need to drive up to the big city for a wonderful meal out.

On the other side of the equation are several other diners around here, where the food is not fresh, often too dry, and for some reason is served barely lukewarm. I’m not going back there.

How come such a difference in quality in such a small town? It’s not like there are thousands of customers around here. You have to really make an effort to get (and keep) each and every customer.

A local, family-owned, high-quality diner, whose owners and cooks care and put their hearts and magnificent cooking skills into every dish, deserves our supposrt and our dollars.

With this, I will wish you a wonderful weekend, a fantastic meal and bon appetit!
