Homemade Halva Spread in 1 Minute

Posted by Didi Gorman on

Halva, a common dessert around the Middle East, is made from tahini (a paste of ground sesame seeds).

Today we’ll be making a halva spread which can be enjoyed as a dessert all on its own.

If you use an unopened jar of tahini, you may want to mix the tahini in the jar prior to using it in the recipe, so that the consistency of the final spread is not too oily. (Oil tends to float to the top of the unopened jar)

As opposed to commercial halva which is mostly white, ours is brown. That’s because the main ingredient here is ground sesame seeds.

Preps: 1 minute
Makes: 3 tablespoons (just under 14 cup)

You will need:
3 tbsp. unsalted Tahini
1 tbsp. honey (or to taste)
12 tsp. pure vanilla extract (or to taste)

How to make it: :
In a small bowl mix all ingredients using a teaspoon, till well-combined. You may want to use two teaspoons to help with the mixing since the spread is very sticky. Keep refrigerated.

Go enjoy this delightful treat, and I will wish you a lovely day,

Didi
