Exquisite Homemade Compote Juice (No Sugar Added)

Posted by Didi Gorman on

A few days back I made an apple and pear compote

What was left after cooking the fruit in water was a lot of liquid, which is great because this is what you see in the picture, and it’s simply amazing.

Since this is the water the fruit was cooked in (along with lemon peel and cinnamon) the liquid has absorbed a delicate fruity flavor.

I scooped out the fruit and this is what was left. Chilled in the fridge, this is a lovely summer drink.

Now to the big question: Is this beverage sweet?

Well, I would say sweetish rather than sweet; there was no sweetening in the compote beyond the natural sweetness of the fruit. The sweetness we’re talking about is very gentle indeed.

So there you go: an easy, refreshing compote juice.

The compote recipe is here.

With this, I will wish you a beautiful weekend,
