Banana-Berry-Kefir Smoothie in 2 Minutes (No Sugar Added)

Posted by Didi Gorman on

Supporting our health has never been as crucial as it is nowadays. Our healthy recipe today combines the health benefits of kefir with those of bananas and berries to create a powerhouse of goodness that is refreshing, pleasantly chilled and naturally sweet (courtesy of two very ripe bananas).

The fresh kefir provides our gut with friendly probiotics while the fruit adds beneficial prebiotic fiber to serve as food for those probiotic bacteria, resulting in a delicacy that boosts the health of our gut and our digestion.

The following recipe is very tweakable. If you like your smoothie sweeter, for example, just change the ratio to include more banana (very ripe) and fewer berries. If you like it thicker, use less milk. For a darker pink, use more berries and less milk and banana.

Serving in clear glass is a great idea too.

Sweetened by: fruit only

Special equipment: stick blender/blender

Preps: 2 minutes

Serves: 4

You will need:

2 ripe bananas, peeled and broken into small chunks
2 cups frozen berries (I use a blend of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
1 ¾ cups plain kefir
2 tbsp. fresh milk
Optional: 1 tbsp. cream (any type. Can be replaced with 1 tbsp. milk)

How to make it:

Blend all ingredients. Serve.
