Product Description

Grass Fed Raw Milk Colby Cheese from Farmstead Fresh

cheeseseals.jpg

LabelMild like Jack, but firmer. Made from the raw milk of grass fed Jersey cows.

Our raw cheeses are never heated above 103 degrees Fahrenheit. This careful handling helps to develop a superior flavor profile, as well as significant health benefits. For example, raw milk cheeses from pastured cows contain an abundance of natural enzymes, vitamins (including B12, A, and D), and essential amino acids.

At such low temperatures, the milk’s fragile protein elements are not altered in any way, making the cheese more readily digestible than those made with heated or pasteurized milk.

The milk for our cheeses comes from happy and healthy grass fed Jersey cows, raised on traditional Amish family farms. The standards at these farms go far beyond organic. During the grazing season, the cows are outdoors, enjoying the lush pastures that they were designed to eat. It is this natural diet that gives their milk its beautiful golden color. In the colder months, they enjoy hay made from the same pastures, with the addition of nutritious sprouts.

Healthy cows = healthy milk = healthy cheese!

Raw cheeses are cured at room temperature and are therefore not harmed by limited periods of warmer storage. Please refrigerate on arrival.

Each pack contains 1lb of cheese, vacuum packed.

Grass Fed Raw Milk Colby Cheese Ingredients:
Raw milk from grass fed cows, cultures, vegetable enzymes, sea salt.

Why not enjoy this delicious cheese with our selection of organic sprouted breads and gluten free breads!

Shipped to you in insulated packaging with ice packs (continental USA only). Please note: If your order includes frozen foods, the cheese may be shipped in a separate insulated envelope to prevent it from freezing.

Cheese FAQ

Calendar

HOW LONG WILL THE CHEESE LAST IN THE REFRIGERATOR? CAN I FREEZE THE CHEESE?

Unopened packages of cheese can be kept in the refrigerator for several months, even a year or more. The cheese will age and have a stronger flavor with time. To avoid this aging, the cheese can be frozen, then thawed slowly in the refrigerator when ready to use.

Once opened the cheese should stay fresh for a month or longer when wrapped tightly and kept in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

No BPA

WHAT ABOUT BPA IN THE PLASTIC PACKAGING?

The plastic Cryovac bags that the cheeses are packaged in are BPA-free.

GF

DOES THE CHEESE HAVE ANY GLUTEN? IS THERE A RISK OF GLUTEN CROSS CONTAMINATION?

The cheese doesn’t have any gluten and the packaging facility is gluten-free.

A2

IS THE CHEESE MADE FROM A1 OR A2 MILK COWS?

The cheese is made only from the milk of Jersey cows. Although the cows have not been tested, Jerseys are an older heritage breed and are known to be A2 producers.

No GMO

ARE THE CHEESES ORGANIC, FROM GRASS FED COWS AND GMO-FREE?

Farmstead Fresh doesn't use ingredients that may contain GMOs. The cheeses are not labeled as organic, but do come from Jersey cows that are raised on Amish farms, and go far beyond organic.

These farms use no pesticides, artificial fertilizers, or synthetic hormones. The cows only graze on grasses. In the colder months, they enjoy hay made from the same pastures they have enjoyed during the rest of the year. The addition of nutritious sprouts rounds out their diet. They are not given any grain.
